In the Season 6 Episode 19, before heading to Paris, Carrie wanted to tell Mr. Big that she didn’t want him to stay in her life any more. And, after her last dinner with the girls, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte, she left for Paris. They all realized that Carrie’s absence would surely affect their lives. After a talk with Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, Big decided to go to Paris after Carrie.
